The Galway Academy French as a Second Language (FSL) online course is specially designed for adults learning French as a second language, whether for travel, work, integration into a French-speaking environment, or simply for the pleasure of learning a new language.
This FSL online course has been created to be flexible, so that you can study whenever and wherever it is convenient for you using your desktop computer, laptop computer, tablet or smartphone with Internet access.
The objective of this self-paced online course is for students to develop four essential skills:
- Reading comprehension – reading and understanding short texts
- Writing skills – writing short sentences, messages, and simple texts
- Speaking skills – learning to speak, ask questions, and interact confidently
- Listening comprehension – understanding spoken French in everyday situations
By the end of this course, students will be able to communicate in most everyday situations: introducing themselves, ordering food, talking about their family, describing their routine, sharing a past experience, and even talking about their future plans.
The FSL online course is organized into 8 progressive modules, each focused on an everyday life theme.
Each module includes:
- Interactive lessons to learn vocabulary and grammar;
- Audio examples and dialogues to improve listening comprehension;
- Self-correcting exercises to practice at your own pace;
- Speaking and writing activities to actively use the language;
- And finally, an assessment to evaluate your progress.
This is a self-paced course: students can follow it according to their own schedule.
Each module represents approximately 4 to 6 hours of learning, depending on each student’s starting level and the time he or she dedicates to practice.
A ninth module will allow students to complete an integrated final assessment, helping them measure their full progression from level A1 to A2.
After students successfully finish the FSL online course, they will receive a Galway Academy Certificate of Completion.
